We don’t yet have cell phones, but plan to get a family plan (self and husband) shortly. Husband is a bit hard of hearing, though doesn’t use a hearing aid, and has had trouble when borrowing other people’s cell phones due to very poor voice quality and volume. We want a very basic type of phone–no need for camera, internet, etc., and something that’s easy to handle (not too tiny). Plan/company recommendations would be helpful too.

Don’t worry about the brand of phone, because all of the phones can be equipped with a volume controlled head set.
Worry about coverage and clarity of signal. My best experience so far are with T-Mobile and Verizon, away from Cingular or Sprint PCS.
I think both of those providers have great family plans, by the way and have good coverage in your area.
My son had a baseball coach that was deaf, which my son is too, but anyway, he did a conference on some phones through verizon that were for hearing impaired. Although ya know if you husband was to get a hearing aid he could plug a cord right up to the aid from the phone and onlt hear the conversation.
Well you’ll be more hydrated and will have more energy. You might also want to start jogging or biking, you’ll see a huge difference in energy levels. =)
