Sample international rates
These are per minute rates for cards with no extra fees: Afghanistan 22¢, Australia 1.8¢, Bulgaria 2.5¢, China 2¢, Colombia 4.5¢, Romania 3.2¢, Ukraine 9.6¢.
Fees
Lower rate cards carry a weekly maintenance and/or connection fee.

Lower rate and extra fees VS higher rate and no fees
Some calling cards from Comfi carry a weekly maintenance fee, but charge a lower per minute rate. These are recommended for people who want to use up the card with one or two calls because they will end up talking more despite the extra fee(s).

Buy Phone Card Overseas Call Home
I am traveling to Phuket in a few days. If I purchased a phone card there can I all Australia? I want to buy one because I hear they are cheap, would anyone know how much they are?
Here are your 2 options:
1. But an International Phone card at any 7-11. The only trick here is taht the phone card must work at the same phone booth. So look for a row of phone booths near your hotel – remember what logos are on (which phone companies they represent). Then buy the phone card that matches the booth. Ask the 7-11 person for international cards – they all have good rates.
2. Easier – if you have an AUstralian GSM phone, but a SIM card for 500 baht with a thai number. Put that SIM card into your Australian GSM phone and make international calls really cheap. when you are done making calls – switch the SIM card back to your Australian one. You can also make calls within thailand cheap with your thai SIM card. You can also buy recharge cards at any 7-11 (7-11 stores are everywhere)!

1) I liked fffrrreee’s second option; although I think you should be able to get a SIM cheaper than Baht500 (like Baht200-300), I think there are even some at Baht99. This link will give you some more info about getting a Thai SIM and using it to make international calls:
2) A lot of internet cafes have Skype software on their PCs so if you have a Skype account already then you can call at Skype’s rate. What is it, 3 cents a minute?
I find that Skype works much better on a high-speed internet line and I call Australia from Thailand on it quite a lot (as that’s where I went to uni).
