I have a t-mobile plan and I want to call someoen in mexico city. I have a prepaid card. I’m in houston and the number on teh card for me to call was a local number. I called and when i got my bill… I was charged. Not for long distance but for the local call. The card also has an 800 number for me to call. If I use teh 1800 number will I still be charged? I know the minutes would count but I don’t want to call if I get charged.

Unfortanatly, you will get charged your minutes but not long distance.

You shouldn’t be charged for dialing the number…I mean, you should have free long distance on your cell, but you are using a 1-800 number and those are toll free anyway. i can understand you being hit for the minutes, but you shouldn’t be hit for calling 1-800 number.

If your boyfriend is going to have a computer there then just use Skype.. its completely free! If you have never heard of it, it’s a simple program that you download and it allows u to talk through your pc to another pc anywhere in the world. Its pretty awesome. You may have to both buy PC microphones with USB connections to plug into ur machines. If he won’t have a PC, you can use Skype to call landlines.. not exactly sure if it works for Korea though. It is a good price as well. Check into it!

I am an internship with iBasis company, which offer the Pingo calling card, and I’d like to know your interest about the company service, rates, quality.
What brand you would recommend someone when they want to call to Thailand? Why?

If you can get it to less than USD .10-.12 per minute including calls to cell phones in Thailand.
Otherwise I will continue to use SkyPE or MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, computer to computer. Which is free.
I understand the difference but, many thai’s have cell phones not necessarily land lines.

okay i got a question for anyone whos had to use an international calling card. Normally received call numbers are not mentioned in the bill.
Anyway, it depends upon ther telephone service provider.

if you used calling card – probably not.
the will see number pre-programmed into the provider switch – not yours

if your number is blocked then no it wont show up… however more and more calling card companies are passing the caller id from the originating telephone number, you used to be able to call from a calling card and remain some what anonymous, but that is no longer the case… unless you use a spoofcard or something similar..
if your number is blocked it will still be blocked..

A phonebill won’t tell you which numbers called them, but only numbers they themselves called.
It should also come up as unknown on caller ID. I’ve phoned the US quite a few times using a phonecard and the number has never appeared on bill or called ID.
