Is There Any Way To Find Out Where I Can Buy An International Phone Card In Austin, Texas?

My brother’s frustrated because his girlfriend is in Ecuador and he’s still in the States… he can’t find any international phone cards around here… is there any place where he can go to get one? Maybe a retailer? He doesn’t want to order online as he wants to talk to her “right now”… any suggestions would REALLY help. Thank you so much in advance.

He can’t find international phone cards??? I don’t think I have gone into a convenience store in YEARS that does not have international phone cards — not in Texas, not in California, not in New York….Where is he shopping??! Try any 7-11, Quik Stop, Minit Mart, or anyplace like that. I think you could go in anyplace, but when I used to stay up near the corner of St. John’s and Cameron Road in North Austin, that was a major immigrant neighborhood and I’m sure all the convenience stores near that intersection would have them. I think so would any convenience store down on South First or South Congress, if you’re more in South Austin. Over by the University, I used to stop all the time at the convenience store that’s around 30th and Duval and I’m pretty sure you can get them there, too….Or probably the convenience store in Dobie Mall — I mean, the University has a ton of international students who need to call home (though college students probably use their cellphones).

I live in a latino neighborhood in Dallas. My Gas stations are full of international phone cards, primarily to Mexico and other south american nations. When I lived in polish neighbrohood in Brooklyn, the same was true. tons of phone cards to eastern europe. So while I have never looked for a phone card in Austin, my first guess would be head to the ethnic neighborhoods and try the bodegas and gas stations.
Yeah that big gass station by the river on South Congress should have a bunch…

Need A Phone Card To Make Calls From Us To The Dominican Republic?
I’ve tried a couple of online websites, but the phone cards are not as good as the ones that can be bought in stores. I prefer the convenience of being able to get them online though. Any suggestions?

Well, I use Arenque, but I don’t know if it’s available where you live. You can buy online, maybe more cheaper.

My home phone dose not support long distance calling.
I want to buy an international phone card, will save me more.
I just don’t know if I’ll be able to use it with my home phone because my phoneline service does not support long distance calling. Does the international calling card I buy ignore the fact that I cannot make long distance calls?
of course you can!!! because you are using the calling-cards toll-free number!!!
I always use a calling card to call my family overseas!!!
its much cheaper then any old phone provider…..and there are so many real good calling cards on the market….
Yes, you can. To place long distance calls with phone card, all you need is a touch-tone telephone. First, dial the toll free access number provided, and then wait for a prompt to input your PIN number. You will then hear another message stating the value that remains on that specific PIN. Next, dial your destination telephone number. A final recorded message will state how many connect minutes are available to that phone number/calling destination. I have a friend who lives in Lebanon and I always miss her calls when she calls me.

My cell phone doesnt allow me call her back for whatever reason. So I need to buy a international phone card but the more I look at them the more I am confused. Do I need an international one and will any international one work or do I need a specific kind? I really know nothing about this so any information would be very helpful. I know calling a cell phone is more expensive than a land line, but does that affect the kind of card I need?
